What Is I Can Make It?

What is the I Can Make It Foundation?
The I Can Make It Foundation is an Austin area non-profit organization that offers jewelry making and scrapbooking classes to individuals in a safe and positive learning environment. We come to those in difficult and stressful situations and teach them the skills of a new craft.
By learning a new craft, individuals gain self-satisfaction by creating a finished product. They may choose to keep the finished product for themselves as a reminder of what they’ve accomplished or give the finished piece to someone else as a gift.
Trained volunteers lead the classes and special events. We may work with students individually or in small group settings. We teach the students the basic skills of a craft and guide them through a project such as creating a necklace, bracelet, earrings or greeting card.
The organization provides all the tools and supplies free of charge to participants, allowing individuals to create a unique and special piece that they will enjoy forever.
Since its inception in 2009, the I Can Make It Foundation has helped over 1,700 individuals in generating positive and creative energy during difficult times. Currently, we serve the patients and families of Dell Children’s Medical Center and the children of the Austin Children’s Shelter. In 2013, we look forward to bringing our programs to the Mom and Baby program at the University Medical Center Brackenridge and to expand to other organizations that need our services.
